  5. IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION (pre 1.1) OF
  6. MONEYTENDER PLEASE HOTSYNC BEFORE INSTALLING AND RUNNING
  7. THIS VERSION.

  9. I believe that this version is fairly bug free, but due to the
  10. nature of the changes I made, I'd prefer that anyone who is upgrading
  11. take the time to hotsync and make sure their current data is backed
  12. up.  The changes are non-destructive, however, once upgraded, some of
  13. those changes will be annoying if the newer databases are used with
  14. older versions (pre 1.1) of MoneyTender.

  18. Notes on using Transfers
  19. ========================
  20.  
  21. There are come complexities about using transfers that seem to need to
  22. be explained.  If you don't use the transfer feature of MoneyTender, then
  23. you can safely ignore this text.
  24.  
  25. In the current versions of MoneyTender, a transfer is simply a shortcut
  26. to creating two register transactions in two different accounts.  After
  27. creation there is no connection between the two.  This means that if
  28. you edit either one of the two transactions, the other is left unchanged.

  30. For example, if you create a transfer to savings from checking for $100,
  31. you now have a debit in your checking account for $100 and a deposit in
  32. your savings account for $100.
  33.  
  34. If you then change the debit in your checking account to $150, the 
  35. deposit into savings _does_not_change_.
  36.  
  37. If you delete one, you will need to manually delete the other.

  39. You *can* force a new entry into the account you are transferring to
  40. or from.  To do this, tap on the 'T'.  However, you will create a
  41. new entry into the other account -- you will *not* change the existing
  42. entry.

  44. In the above case, where we transfered $100 from checking then editing
  45. that amount to $150, if we tapped on the 'T', savings would then have
  46. a additional deposit of $150 listed as coming from checking.  So savings
  47. would show one deposit of $100 and one deposit of $150.

  49. I realize that some of this behavior isn't the optimum behavior for
  50. MoneyTender, and it is likely it will be fixed in a future version.
